Keeping Your Rates Up to Date

Keeping your rates current is essential to attract customers, avoid booking issues, and maintain good visibility on the website. Outdated or missing rates can negatively affect your ranking and lead to guest confusion or disappointment.

Why It’s Important

  • Accurate rates improve your property's visibility in search results.

  • Guests receive correct pricing when making a booking.

  • You can take advantage of seasonal demand and price accordingly.

How to Update Your Rates

Step 1: Log in to your host profile.
Step 2: Click on 'Pricing' > 'Rates'.
Step 3: Choose a rate structure for each room or unit. You can select from the following:

  • Per unit rates
A flat rate for the entire room or unit, regardless of the number of guests (up to the maximum capacity).
Example: R1,000 per night, whether two or four guests stay.

  • Per person rates
A sliding scale where the rate increases depending on how many guests are staying. You can also add a charge for additional guests beyond a set number.
Example: R1,000 for two guests, plus R500 per extra guest beyond two.

  • Per adult and child rates
Set separate prices for adults and children (aged zero to seventeen). You can either:
    – Add a fixed rate per child
    – Set a percentage of the adult rate (e.g. 50%)

Step 4: Decide whether to use weekend rates. Weekend rates allow you to charge a different amount for bookings that include a Friday or Saturday night.

Step 5: Ensure your default season rate is completed. If you haven’t set up custom seasons, the default season rate will be used as your base rate.

Step 6: Add a minimum night stay for each room or unit. This determines the shortest stay a guest can book.

Please note: If you’re using per-person rates for a large-capacity unit, the minimum night stay field may appear at the end of the rate setup.

Step 7: Click on 'Save & Continue'.
Your rates will now be updated and reflected under the 'Rates' tab on your listing.

Additional Information

  • Rates must include VAT and our commission, where applicable. The final price shown is what the guest will pay.

  • If your property is connected to a channel manager, you must update your rates and seasons through your channel manager dashboard. These changes will sync automatically.
